A long absence

Considering I haven't posted in a long time, it'll be of little surprise to you that there's a direct correlation between that and me not having news.

Oh, darn, you probably think I have news now. Sorry.

No, I just though that if you were desperately missing the occasional slice of Felix, you might want to check out my other blog, which focuses more on my day to day activities and so is more worthy of often updates than this which mainly focuses on writing and website news - of which there is, admittedly, almost none.

Cheers,

Soultrain Felix.

Yeah, it's what I'm calling myself nowadays. Love that soul music.

Well, Script Frenzy is all over. I finished about four days early with roughly 104 pages, but ultimately didn't produce anything worth reading - I was so excited to get back to MoX I haven't though about in ages. I'm also now editing the second draft of Beyond the Black Stump, which is a bit of fun, and then I have to move on to another secret secret project. Actually, it's not that secret, but it's fairly new so it's changing radically, like a baby going through it's early stages of metamorphasis.

Babies... babies do that, right?

Anyway, more information later. I will be updating the Beyond the Black Stump page and possibly posting some early MoX excerpts, but don't get excited.

-Felix

p.s. ten years from now, my wife (hey, a man can dream) is going to read this post and never let me touch my babies again. She's going to be a wise woman.

Script Frenzy Time!

Woah, two blog posts in... whats it been, a week? Who loves ya, baby?

I do, that's who.

Anyhow! You might remember me participating last year in National Novel Writing Month or NaNoWriMo, where novelists try to write 50,000 words in the space of November. I excelled with about 91,000. This April - the one we're in right now, as of yesterday - is NaNoWriMo's sister-event, Script Frenzy.

In Script Frezny, all us crazy people attempt to pump out 100 pages worth of pure scripted awesomeness, be it a TV show, a movie, a play, a radio show, a comic book, whatever!

I'm working on something I've wanted to do for a few years now, a hypothetical third game in the Untold Legends series for the PSP - the first two games, Brotherhood of the Blade and The Warrior's Code left a few little plot hooks lieing in the wake, and I had a really neat idea for how to tie them together and create something really epic. Hardly a serious work, but it's all in the name of good fun.

If you'd like to come join me on Script Frenzy, go ahead! My username, as usual, is Felixaar. Add me and we'll talk about junk and stuff.

Cheers all,

Felix.

Pink Hair: The Bane of Manliness

Posted by felinuanbooks on March 26, 2009 at 12:17 AM Comments comments (0)

Well, that's game, lads! My hair has been dyed the world's most despised colour of all, Pink. I guess I have no one but myself to blame... but that won't stop me!

Here are the people I blame, cause they all donated!

Me! (I planned this well, huh.)

Matthew Way

Kaye Elliott

Shek Graham

Jenny Brown

Brian and Sue Elliott

Rebecca Drummond

Andrea Peardon

Jo Carruthers

And a big thanks to my fellow team members, Anuan and Patrick

And my hair dying assistant, Becc.

The video of me getting pinkified is up on youtube, just follow this shiny link.

Together we ultimately managed to raise $500 for the fight againt Blood Cancer, so it was well worth the daily ridicule and weird looks that I get here on the streets of Melbourne.

Wait, I love the ridicule and weird looks! Woohoo!

Crazy for Cancer Update

Posted by felinuanbooks on March 9, 2009 at 6:55 AM Comments comments (0)

So, our little sortay against blood cancer is going fairly well - so far between me, Anuan, and one of the most charitable fellow's in the world, a good friend of mine in England, we've raised $367 Australian, and are only $133 from our goal of $500! If you can help make this dream a reality, please donate either here (credit card) or here (paypal) or if you want to pay some other way (like check or money order), email me at t.s.elliott@hotmail.com and we'll hook something up.

There's only one problem so far with our donations... Pink, the most wretched of all colours, is in the lead! If you really love me, you'll donate towards a different colour - any of the other ones has my support. Any at all. Please.

Oh, and we've picked our team theme song. What is it? You'll find out when we all colour our hair! I'll be making a video and stuff of me getting mine done, and it should involve a few snaps from Annie and Paddy doing thiers.

Don't worry that just because it's been all pro-charity news that no writing is geting done - plenty is! But it's all hush hush now mainly cause it's too young to see the light of day. We've got some fun times coming up in the next few weeks, too, but I don't want to detract from the charity right now, so unitl then you'll have to sit calmly on the edges of your respective seats.

Cheerio,

Felix

The even-less daily Anuan!

I'm alive! Not exactly kicking. It's too hot to kick. Anyway. Just thought I'd mention that. What am I doing? Well, for one I've joined Felix's team within the Luekemia foundation. Raising money, oohyay. I'm helping him write MoX, of course. I'm thinking I may start a blog of rage and various other feelings, just for kicks.

Also, I owe Felix a shit-ton of money.

Feel free to berate me to ensure I don't spend my savings as I save up to pay him back.

Anyway. Thought I'd just remind you all that Felinuan Books isn't just a one-man operation and that behind the pleasantry of Felix's company-face there is a much less pleasant face of an Anuan hiding behind, skulking in the shadows of the intarwebs.

Ta-tah!

Crazy for Cancer!

Posted by felinuanbooks on February 12, 2009 at 11:24 PM Comments comments (0)

Well, actually, it's AGAINST cancer, but still... This year I am colouring my hair for World's Greatest Shave. Every year, thousands of brave, brave people shave their heads to raise money to combat blood cancers such as Leukemia and Lymphoma or Myeloma - then there's the couple of cowards like me who don't dare go any further than a dye job. In my defense, my head is so large that no one wants to see it bald. Even if you think you do, you don't.

Theres only one problemw with my brilliant scam charitable act - I don't know which colour to pick! I've narrowed it down to five unthinkable options (and if you pick number three right of the bat, well done) - Yellow, Green, Red, Blue, and Pink - but it's up to you, the donators, to choose for me. So, when/if you make a donation, it will be towards the colour of your choice, the colour you want to see me dye my hair and walk around with for the next couple of weeks. The power is in your hands, so please don't pick pink.

If you'd like to donate, there are three routes to take.

This link here will take you to my World's Greatest Shave profile page, where you can donate via Credit Card. There's a link on there through which you can sponsor. If you do, make sure to make a note of which colour you wish me to dye, and make sure it gets to me by leaving a comment on my page with your colour of choice and the amount you donated.

Alternatively, this other link will take you to our online store, where you can donate via PayPal. It has the five options just waiting for you to donate towards. If you decide to donate via this route, make sure you increase your donation above a single dollar via the quantity box - and make sure to click "Update Cart" after doing so, or it will only go through as one dollar.

If you'd like to donate in some other way like check or money order, then please email me at t.s.elliott@hotmail.com for details.

If you'd like to join me in participation, that would be damned awesome - you will, of course, have to dye or spray your hair whatever colour is decided along with mine come March 12-14, but it will be all in the name of good fun! If you'd like to join me in this battle, then sign up at http://www.worldsgreatestshave.com/ and join my team - the team name is The Team Formerly Known As Prince. You can always just spray on your colour, if you're not hardcore like me - so come on, get in on the action!

So come one! Now is your chance to combine making me look like an absolute tool - more so - with raising money to combate a disease that causes so much stress and pain throughout the world! It's WIN-WIN!

Do it! Do it now!

Beyond the Black Stump

Posted by felinuanbooks on February 3, 2009 at 7:56 PM Comments comments (0)

Remember last post I promised that you would soon see Beyond the Black Stump with it's own page? Well, here is proof that I love you.

A while back I announced that I was working on this novel, a tale of my travels across the world - from my homeland of Australia to my time in Africa, till I went to America and wound my way around the states, my goal to reach Alaska. Whether I made it or not is something you'll just have to read the novel for!

Of course, Beyond the Black Stump is still only in it's second draft format, but I hope to have it ready to send off to publishers by the time March roles around. I've put up an excerpt, linked to on the Beyond the Black Stump page. You can get to the page via this link or just click on it in the top bar.

Enjoy!

Dun duh duh dunnnnn!

Ha-ha! It's a new blog. Or in fact, it's just a blog, since there is no old blog to replace it - can something truly be new if it does not replace something old? Well, perhaps it can. Who knows, who cares.

So, it's 2009 - has been for a few weeks now of course - and this looks like it will be an exciting year for the lot of us (me and Anuan. Which isn't really a lot, when you think about it).

First Big Announcement!

The main block of writing on my new novel, Beyond the Black Stump, has been completed. Of course, the novel is far from being done, but it mean's I've officially typed THE END. Of course, I haven't actually typed THE END since the way the novel was written means its not the kind of novel you type THE END at THE END, but if you were going to type THE END at THE END then I would have typed THE END. At THE END.

Say that three times fast.

The important thing, however, is this I'll soon (which could be a while since I'm a lazy bastard) be giving it it's own page with some info on the novel - you know, what it's about and so forth - and a few rudimentary excerpts. It's still a long time before I even consider maybe possibly thinking about sending it to an agent or publisher, but steps are being taken forward - hooray!

Second Big Announcement!

Work has - again - started on Mark of Xanadris. You may remember the horrible tragedy that befell us a few months back when our current worklog - almost a third of the novel - was deleted in a freak hardrive crash accident. From this day forth, I will forever remember to back up novels. Anyway, me and Anuan began again over the New Year's Period and work is steadily plodding along - can't really say much more than that. I imagine we should be done by the end of the year.

Third Big Announcement!

There is also another secret project going on. In time, you will probably learn more of it.

Well, I suppose that's all for now.

Cheers!

   Felix
